7 Tips + Tricks for Summer Hair Care
Sunscreen For Your Hair

Your skin isn’t the only one that absorbs damaging UV rays from the sun, so you need to protect your hair as well. Make a daily habit of applying a hair care product that contains UV filters, like our Beachy Revival Dry Shampoo that contains UV guard. Another quick tip: if you’ll be spending a lot of time in the sun, wear a wide-brimmed hat and keep your strands from getting scorched.

Start Summer with a Trim

Refresh your summer style with a trim. Split ends are at an all time high during summer due to overexposure to the sun, wind and heat. Plan to trim your ends regularly so their hair remains fresh and healthy, this will also keep your hair less tangled and prone to breakage.

Avoid Excessive Heat

Try to keep the use of heated tools at a minimum. Your hair is already exposed to a significant amount of heat on a daily basis in the summer; and it will probably air-dry quickly!

Wear Loose Styles

A comfortable loose style is ideal for keeping your hair under control and minimizing exposure to the sun. Try a messy braid and use any of our scrunchies, claw clips or our best-selling gimme bands to keep your hair in cool care-free styles. Tight hairstyles can be damaging because they tend to pull and tear hair, especially if your hair is dry from the summer heat.

Say Goodbye to Swimmer's Hair

Your hair naturally absorbs water, so when you’re swimming in chlorine or salt water, your hair will suffer drying out consequences. Minimize damage by rising your water with cool, fresh water before taking a swim. The more your hair absorbs the fresh water, the less salt and chemicals can get in. Try to also rinse your hair after your swim as well!

Keep Your Hair Hydrated

Your hair gets just as thirsty in the summer as you do. Switching your shampoo and conditioner to moisturizing formulas and using hair oil or serum on the ends will help restore moisture. For added treatment, conditioning masks and live-in conditioners will give a deeper level of moisture.

Wash Less Often

As the days get hotter, it’s tempting to wash your hair every day. However by doing just that, you are stripping your scalp and hair of much needed natural oils, which in turn stimulates additional oil production and makes you feel the need to wash it even more. Extend the time between washing by using a dry shampoo and we have 3 amazing choices for you: Coconut Beachy Revival, Lavender Calm Renewal, and Citrus Clarity.

Brush your hair gently with our Detangling Brush, to help distribute your scalp’s natural oils through your hair.
