Meet Brooklyn

I’m 27 years old and was born and raised in Utah. I have an almost two year old boy, Rome, who’s my sidekick. I grew up dancing my entire life and moved to Los Angeles when I was 18 years old to pursue dance professionally. Being in the Top 20 on “So You Think You Can Dance” and going on tour with “Dancing with The Stars” were two of the bigger highlights of my dance career. I completed college online and traveled a majority of those years. Dubai, Bali and the Southern coast of Italy were some of my favorite spots.

I love all things health & wellness, working out, trying new recipes, styling outfits and reading.

Q: How has hair impacted your life?

In high school, I used to wake up early and curl or straighten my hair most days. Looking back, I wish so badly I would’ve just let my naturally wavy hair be. It would’ve been so much easier, less time consuming and healthier for my hair. Now, in my adult years, my biggest compliment is my natural wavy hair.

Q: Do you have any hair insecurities, how have you embraced them?

I’ve always had long hair. When I was 18 years old and auditioned for SYTYCD, my hair was to my hips. Once I made the top 20 on the show, I had to get my hair chopped off to my shoulders due to it being easier to style short. This was devastating for me as I felt like a part of my identity was having long wavy hair and it took so long to get to that length. I didn’t love my hair short but had to embrace it. I kept up on using quality shampoo + conditioner, taking biotin, using a scalp scrubber in the shower to exfoliate, drinking lots of water and using as little heat as possible to get it back to the length I wanted.

Q: What advice can you give to someone about being confident w/ themselves + their hair?

Own it! My favorite part about my hair is how low maintenance I’ve trained it to be. I shower, brush my hair, add products, and let it air dry every single time. My hair drys naturally wavy and it’s so easy to maintain. My advice is to embrace whatever hair type you have. I think wearing it natural is so beautiful and it’s so much healthier for you hair.

Q: Fave gimme product?

My favorite product is the thick hair bands. They keep my pony tail from falling out and somehow add so much volume. I also use the detangling brush everyday!
